Biography
Welcoming you to Kelz TBK a.k.a. “The Black Kupid” is a 21-year-old rapper and singer from Shoreditch, North London. His music is an amalgamation of jazz and blues filled love/heartbreak melodies, combined with his very own take on hip-hop – An MC by nature, his rhymes are filled with conviction and humour.
A man on a mission, he has a hungering ambition to become a star, but he isn’t shy of working for it as he develops, his devotion evident in his lyrics – I would like to say I have the whole package but now I am incomplete / but wait until the new year / a matter of a fact give me a few years / M2 will be the only info that you share / Kelz is the topic at hand” (On M2Warriors). Since joining M2Music in l2010, Kelz has released several promotional singles and received radio play from Amazing Radio with his track “Breathe”.
With DymonRed producing the first track on the EP, M2Warriors, Kelz tells us he’s out there chasing his dreams with lyrics like “visions of me sitting on top of these grands now I believe in and telling myself I can”. Able to easily shift from hip-hop to pop, Kelz comes hard with his witty punchlines and reveals his sweet side on Like An Angel, a true and heartfelt dedication to his mother, featuring DymonRed and Suzy.
Slick and assuredly dressed, young Kelz is an artist who oozes self-assurance and belief – of which he refers to as his “swag”. Growing up in and around Hackney, Kelz is a person familiar with city life, who takes inspiration from the streets and his personal experiences – while all the time keeping that humour and swag we expect from a man whose main ideal is to make people enjoy hip-hop.
Kelz has performed at several venues – most notable performances with collaborator Vince Kidd include Shooting Stars Benefit Launch 2012 at the Corinthia Hotel, supporting Lana Del Rey at Scala in King’s Cross, BCM Planet Dance (Spain), Sound Control (Manchester), Under The Bridge (London), O2 Academy Birmingham, 02 ABC 2 Glasgow, YOYO at Notting Hill Arts Club and GOLD DUST vs. This Is Music at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen (previous guests of which have included Jessie J, Rox and Ellie Goulding).
