Chikaya Buruya AKA Chikaya-D is a singer, song writer, she was born in in Arusha the safari capital of Tanzania and gateway to Kilimanjaro. Chikaya-D developed her musical ability in her late teens, she acts and plays guitar as well as author of her music compositions.

After attending secondary school, Chikaya-D decided to attend the college of art in Bagamoyo (TaSuBa) where she studied performing arts. Chikaya-D has worked with several bands like Tongwa ensemble under Justin GodyKaozya, Afrikabisa under Jikhoman, she worked as a singer/dancer and actress in Germany with the Theatre company known as Dat Letzte kleonod.
April 2017 Chikaya-D performed at Karibu Music Festival, and was very well received, she got positive reviews from the local news media, who described her as the queen of the stage. In May 2017 Chikaya-D performed at Alliance Franchise Dar es salaam she had another amazing show and was interviewed on Tanzania national TV stations.

Chikaya-D is signed to Sustainable Records. Chikaya-D’s debut EP Titled “The Village Girl” will be released on 4th October 2018
