SHMLSS
If you’re looking for reasons to be cheerful, SHMLSS will undoubtedly deliver. Gosh, does their music make you happy! Essentially, when everybody is having a good time, you have landed at the best party. Small wonder with SHMLSS’s catchy disco future house mix, with a slight touch of French sexiness. The Utrecht-based duo started three years ago, but since early 2012 SHMLSS is taking Holland by storm. A quick look at the gig guide shows that they’ve done 25 big festivals domestically. At home there are not many DJs doing what they do. That might explain their growth in popularity. What will the participation in Unsigned further give them? ‘We are happy that we were picked in the first place,’ states SHMLSS. ‘Additionally, it’s an honour to remix Bart B More. That’s awesome! But to remix his music in our disco way, that’s a real achievement.’
Baxter Priestly
His Baxter Priestly guise Olaf in het Veld ‘borrowed’ from Bret Easton Ellis’s 1998 novel Glamorama. Unlike his namesake, Olaf isn’t an attention seeker at all. ‘I want the music to do the talking,’ he claims. In the past he was one half of the duo. They made it to the bill of the Awakenings festival. There security summoned him to put out his cigarette, as he was standing right next to a big pot of fireworks. That big bang should come now...! Through the use of Ableton Live he discovered that the prospects of sound manipulation were limitless, also live on stage. Release My Head is the first track released under the Baxter moniker. His contribution to Unsigned is very well-timed, as he’s ready for the next step. Baxter has remixed a track by Bart B More. Previously he received props from Richie Hawtin for a great remix.
