Story
Soltrenz Records: A Symphony of Culture, Rhythm, and Vision
Origins: The MODU Era
Soltrenz Records began as a spark of creativity between two visionary artists: Duane Harden and Moises Modesto. In the late 1990s, the duo founded MODU, a production company rooted in New York City’s pulsating dance music scene. Duane, already celebrated for his iconic vocals on the 1999 house anthem “You Don’t Know Me” (with producer Armand Van Helden), brought soulful magnetism, while Moises, a Dominican-born multi-instrumentalist and producer, infused Latin rhythms and technical ingenuity. Together, MODU became a powerhouse, crafting tracks that blurred genres and electrified clubs worldwide.
Evolution: The Birth of Soltrenz
As MODU’s reputation grew, so did their ambition. Enter Jay Dabhi, an Indian-American entrepreneur and strategist with a passion for bridging global sounds. Recognizing Jay’s knack for innovation and business acumen, Duane and Moises joined forces with him to launch Soltrenz Records—a label designed to transcend boundaries. The trio’s shared vision? To create a platform where raw talent meets cutting-edge production, unshackled by genre limits.
The Name: Weaving Threads of Sound
Soltrenz (pronounced soul-trenz) is a fusion of “soul” and “trenz” (Spanish for braids or threads). It symbolizes the intertwining of cultural roots—Duane’s Puerto Rican heritage, Moises’ Dominican rhythms, and Jay’s Indian influences—into a cohesive sonic tapestry. The name also nods to soundwaves (“sound trenz”), reflecting their mission to craft music that moves both body and spirit.
Sound & Vision
Soltrenz Records pulses at the intersection of house, dance, soul, funk, Latin, and Afrobeat, championing artists who defy categorization. The label’s signature style blends Moises’ percussive brilliance, Duane’s velvety vocals, and Jay’s global ear, creating tracks that feel both nostalgic and futuristic. From underground anthems to mainstream crossovers, Soltrenz is where raw grooves meet polished innovation.
Mission: Culture, Community, and Elevation
More than a label, Soltrenz is a movement. The founders are committed to:
Amplifying Diverse Voices: Prioritizing artists from marginalized communities, offering mentorship and creative freedom.
Cultural Fusion: Melding NYC’s house legacy with Caribbean heat, South Asian textures, and African rhythms.
Authenticity Over Trends: Rejecting formulaic hits in favor of music with heart, sweat, and soul.
The Future: Uncharted Frequencies
With releases that ignite dancefloors and collaborations that span continents, Soltrenz Records is redefining dance music’s boundaries. As Duane, Moises, and Jay often say:
“We don’t just make tracks—we build bridges. And the best parties happen in the middle.”
Join the rhythm. Feel the trenz.
