Biography
The Kalush Orchestra will represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, with their song "Stefania".
A hip-hop band with a fondness for folk, Kalush Orchestra is made up of founder and rapper Oleh Psiuk, multi-skilled musician Ihor Didenchuk, beatboxing bagpipes player Vitalii Duzhyk, solo instrumentalist Tymofii Muzychuk, and rapper, DJ and dancer Danyil Chernov. The band is actually a side project of the original band Kalush, who focus more on rap and beats. For their forays into folk, Vitali and Tymofi are added to the line-up, and ‘Orchestra’ is added to the moniker. And it will be the full Kalush Orchestra five-piece that we’ll be getting in Turin.
The song Stefania is a tribute to Oleh’s mother, which she only heard for the very first time when she saw her son’s band compete in Ukraine’s Eurovision pre-selection process, Vidbir.
