Jon is an Australian composer and musician. He trained in music and piano tuning at the NSW State Conservatorium (now University of Sydney) and studied English Lit & Ancient History, completing an Honours degree in Ancient History from Sydney’s Macquarie University.

Musically, he has worked widely in secular and sacred spaces and across classical and contemporary fields. Jon trained as a Bel Canto Tenor and has sung professional opera (Turandot). He has worked as a musical director for stage shows in the Sydney Club circuit and as a restaurant pianist. Additionally he plays trumpet, saxophone, flute and pipe organ.

Jon has been writing for 4 decades, producing Christmas carols and church music. He publishes articles on music regularly and is currently working on a biography of Francis Havergal, the 19thC. composer, performer and public speaker. Jon's 2022 carol, 'Christmas is Here Again' was recorded by Mirusia, Australian crossover artist of the Year (2023) who performs with Andre Rieu. It was a finalist in the Open Door Song Competition that year.

Jon's Christmas Carol carol, 'Bells Are Ringing' was a finalist in the 2021 UKSongwriting Contest as was "Merry Be You All' (recorded by Kim Chandler) in 2017. His song, 'Everliving Rock' was a finalist in the Great American Song Contest in 2021.
