Biography
Gold record-certified J-Danté, a native of Houston, Texas, is best known as one quarter of the R&B group Ideal. His journey to stardom began early, when he and his childhood friends - Cedrick ‘Swab’ Cotton, Maverick ‘Mav’ Cotton, and cousin Wayne ‘PZ’ Perry - were discovered singing harmonies on a local radio station. Signed by Virgin Records, Ideal went on to tour with Destiny’s Child, TLC, Earth, and Wind & Fire across the United States and the UK.
Ideal’s self-titled album achieved Gold Record status, featuring Billboard Hot 100 hits ‘Creep Inn’ and ‘Whatever’ featuring Lil Mo. Their biggest hit ‘Get Gone’ stayed on the charts for over two years.
In 2021, the group was shaken by the murder of Cedrick Cotton in broad daylight outside a food market in Southwest Houston, leading to a period of reflection and healing for J-Danté.
After taking some time away from music, he is now embarking on a solo career, channeling his creativity and inspiration into new music.
His debut single ‘Spicy Margarita (The Plastic Cup Song) is a vibrant fusion of pop and contemporary R&B, offering a refreshing taste of what’s to come from J-Danté.
