Biography
Dorothy Wallace: A Journey of Faith, Music, and Resilience
Born and raised in Brentwood, Long Island, New York, Dorothy Wallace’s early life was marked by challenge and transformation. At just three years old, she developed Selective Mutism, falling silent for several years. But in her teenage years, determined to overcome her shyness, she joined the folk group at her local Catholic Church—and discovered not only her voice, but her gift for music.
Attending an integrated school exposed Dorothy to a rich blend of musical influences. She fell in love with Gospel music, while also exploring the worlds of opera and musical theatre. This diverse foundation would shape her unique artistic style.
In the vibrant folk revival scene of 1980s New York City, Dorothy pursued a career as a singer-songwriter. She independently released her first contemporary Christian album, Hand of God, and continued creating music that reflected her faith and life journey. Her talents expanded beyond music—she created the award-winning animated series Meet The LadyBugs, and her work has appeared in notable platforms including Dance Moms, The Howard Stern Show, and CD Baby’s 9/11 tribute album, We Will Remember.
After rededicating her life to Christ, Dorothy fully committed her talents to God's purpose. She is now preparing to release her upcoming 2026 album, Clean Heart. The album features powerful tracks such as “Peace Lord Make Me an Instrument,” “Magnificat (My Soul Magnifies The Lord),” “Sinner’s Prayer (Come Into My Heart),” and a bold heavy metal rendition of Sister Janet Mead’s “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Today, Dorothy resides in Houston, Texas, where she continues to share her gifts as a member of her church’s Worship Team.
